de Cinéma de Douarnenez (Brittany, France). A series of
films on "The Māoris of New Zealand" - "Les Māoris
de la Nouvelle-Zélande" was held in 2001, at the Film
Festival of Douarnenez, in Brittany, France. This yearly festival
focuses each time on the culture of a different minority. |

- Graeme
Allwright. Chantal Perrin is currently working on a documentary
concerning Graeme Allwright's return visit to New Zealand. This
DVD should be available within the next few months.

New Zealand singer, 18 year old Hayley
Westenra, sang during the first half of the Il Divo concert at
the Palais
des Congres, in Paris, France, last May. Although Hayley has been
(and still is) touring extensively throughout the UK and the US, this
is the first time she has appeared in France - albeit briefly. We
hope it won't be the last. Her interpretation of "Amazing Grace",
without backing, was particularly appreciated. |

New Zealand was the country of honour
this year at the International Kite Flying Festival, which is held
in Dieppe, France, every two years. A group of 22 Māori have
been representing New Zealand several times each day for the duration
of the Festival with cultural performances, traditional kite flying,
traditional games, a New Zealand stand. Read
